Is There Wank?

I was just told that there's a lot of wank in the Supernatural fandom. Now, I've never seen any personally, only heard about it. I've never gone looking for it, so I've never really found any.

Have I just been lucky? Is there a lot of wank in this fandom? I was under the impression it was rare and easily avoidable. Maybe I just have a cool flist.

Any insight?

I don't watch Supernatural, but suffice it to say that I've been avoiding the show because after looking into the fandom I thought that there was actual incest in it - that's all anyone seemed to be talking about!

heh. No, the incest is all fandom. There's actually a pretty twenty-something year damsel-in-distress in every episode to "off-set" the fact that they don't have a female lead character.

lol. Basically a bunch of fangirls saw two hot men who had chemistry(not neccasarily that kind of chemistry, but they have a connection) and couldn't help themselves.

The show is not incestuous. It's about family and the lengths you'll go to for revenge.

Well, there is the neverending argument about wincest. You get minor ones for "is Sam evil?" and/or "is Sam a bad brother?". That's all I know about fandom wank in SPN.

Though, I seldom wander further out than my flist so I can't tell you for sure if there is more or not. (Really, I try to avoid any wank not matter the fandom.)

Me and my friends have the theory that SPN is a rather mature fandom and has less silly wanks than many other fandoms have/had to suffer. We are just too cool for such shit. ,)

I don't go on message boards or anything so that could be it. I like a little discussion about characters, episodes, and myth arcs, but I don't have to time or energy to really devote to it right now. When things descend into name calling I say my piece and then step away. Some people take things way too personally. If you don't like how someone thinks/acts then just leave them alone, go to your seperate corners.
