2012-10-11 03:45 (UTC)Alien tech of some kind...Steve gets hit first because he throws himself in without thought for his own safety. "Typical." Maria thinks, as she attempts to haul him to his feet and out of the range of whatever the hell that -thing- is. She prides herself on her upper body strength, but Steve is 220lbs easy, even without his shield and its not until he gets his feet under himself and pushes that she's able to drag him back to the doorway.
"What in the goddamn hell?" echoes, coming from the abandoned room. Maria's eyes widen. But when she looks down, she has nothing on the deer in the headlights look Steve is sporting. Captain America shouldn't be able to look that shocked and it sends a tendril of unease down Maria's spine. She draws her sidearm, keeping it tight to her body, glancing into the room, vision sweeping over one side before bracing her gun in front of her and swinging around to sweep the rest of the room, careful not to get close enough to whatever is in the room to activate it, but its clear. There's no one there.
"Shit." There's Steve's voice again, but it sounds like its coming from the thing sitting in the room, not behind her. When she whips around, Steve is looking over her shoulder, clearly seeing just as she has that the room is empty. The color has drained from his face though.
"Captain Rogers?" Maria raises an eyebrow. Her hand is itching to go to her comm link, to report, but they lost comms 15 minutes ago and there's no point.
"Um," Steve stammers. The color is returning to his face, but its red that's bleeding up his neck, turning the tips of his ears pink. "I thought those things." He finally manages to get out.
"That's quite the language for Captain America." Maria comments, mostly to cover her own surprise. To borrow a phrase from Steve, shit.
"Just a kid from Brooklyn." Steve mutters.
"And a soldier." Maria adds, but her voice is distracted, even to her own ears. She doesn't like any of the options they've got with comm links down, but she has to pick one.

2012-10-11 04:14 (UTC)One can only imagine the inappropriate questions Tony is asking...and which ones get through before Steve ruthlessly censors them! :D
