John's Age

Okay, disregarding Joe Flanigan's actual age, how old do you think John is? I was thinking thirties, but I'd like to hear what you guys think. It's for a fic I'm writing. So, how old do you think he is, and what's the youngest you'd buy him as?

he was a major when he joined the atlantis expedition, so he has to be in the military for a few years now.
I'm guessing 32.

Hmm... I'd go with mid to late-thirties. Probably about the youngest I'd see him would be 36 or 37, though I think a closer estimate would be 39 or 40.

Somewhat unrelated: back in the first season of SG-1, I believe Jack said he'd just hit forty. RDA was a year or two past forty at that time, so I believe they were portraying Jack as just a bit younger than the actor himself. I think the writers/producers/etc. go for ages that are similar to the actors. *shrugs*

How old is sam? I think john's pretty much the same age

I would say min. age 35. Max age 42. The only reason I say this, is that it takes a LONG time to go up in rank in the military. Unless you are the Presidents son ::wink wink::, it would take you time to reach Major and/or Lt. Col.

True about the whole Lt.Col thing. So I guess he could be younger than I think. :)

I know for fairly certain that he was born in the same years as Torri/Elizabeth. so with that in mind i'd say that torri looks about 39. so i guess that's how old i think he is.
